Army captain sentenced to 12 years in prison for forced abortion

Army Capt. Brandon Jones-Adams was sentenced to 12 years in prison, the maximum sentence allowed, after pleading guilty to multiple charges.
He admitted to secretly placing abortion pills in the drink of a junior enlisted soldier with whom he had been in a consensual relationship.
The woman became pregnant during their relationship while both were stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) and deployed to South Korea.
After drinking the contaminated beverage in August 2025, the woman experienced severe cramping and sought emergency medical care.
The incident resulted in the loss of her unborn child at 13 weeks of gestation.
Army investigators discovered that Jones-Adams had made multiple attempts to obtain mifepristone, eventually ordering it online using a fake name.
He pleaded guilty to:
- Intentionally killing a preborn child
- Domestic violence
- Fraternization
- Conduct unbecoming of an officer
In addition to imprisonment, he was:
- Stripped of all pay and allowances
- Dismissed from the Army, equivalent to a dishonorable discharge for officers.
Army CID officials described the act as a severe violation of the victim’s trust and autonomy and emphasized their commitment to holding him fully accountable.
